Power Yoga, also known as Vinyasa Flow Yoga, is a modern style of yoga that draws primarily upon the Ashtanga tradition. You might think of Power Yoga as "freestyle" Ashtanga. Whereas Ashtanga classes are taught according to a strict sequence of poses as established by K. Pattabhi Jois, Power Yoga classes offer a looser interpretation of the yoga asanas (postures), allowing students to explore asanas from all six Ashtanga series, as well as many fun variations and modifications. A typical class will go a little something like this.
